Hindu Calendar is based on Lunar Cycle, with 12 months in an year.  Each month generally will have 30 days, with exceptions.

A monthly calendar would consist of two sets of 14 days as follows:

• first set of 14 days

  • leading up to Full Moon Day

  • days have Shudha as prefix 

• second set of 14 days

  • leading up to New Moon Day.

  • days have Bahula as prefix.
